Snowstorm hits the Pacific Northwest. Mountaineers snowshoe trip to the Kendall Peak Lakes area. Leaders Louise Kornreich and Randy Sperry planned a route from the Commonwealth Basin side, following the PCT, to the knob that sits along the ridge near Kendall Katwalk which has nice views to the east and down to the lakes. Very few views today – except for the occasional view of Guye Peak across Commonwealth Creek. The weather was cold, windy, and snowy. When we reached the Kendall Peak Ridge, we altered our plans to go to the knob above Kendall Lakes and instead went to a knoll on the ridge to the south. On the descent the snowstorm became fierce. Down in Commonwealth Basin, we escaped the snowstorm above and met many others on snowshoes. Tom Davis and I had planned to car camp in the Teanaway afterwards. When we reached Cle Elum, we saw no letup in the storm, changed our plans, and headed home after dinner.
